Hackley Students Visit Yale for the 2nd Annual Creative Arts Field Trip

Back in the cold winter of 2020, Performing and Visual Arts students joined together for a first ever Hackley Creative Arts field trip to Yale University. That trip two years ago was such a success, it instantly became a fixed event on the Hackley Upper School calendar… only to be canceled last year due to the pandemic, like so much else on the Hilltop. With much excitement, on April 13, the two departments set out again to New Haven for the 2nd Annual Creative Arts Field Trip!

Hackley performing and visual artists had an opportunity to share a morning of art history, exploration, and discovery in The Yale Art Gallery and The Yale Center for British Art.

The group toured the world class collections of both museums before breaking for lunch on Chapel Street. In the afternoon, they enjoyed the musical theater production, Choir Boy, at the Yale Repertory Theater, followed by some of the best ice cream in the world at the Yale campus favorite, Arethusa Farm Dairy. After a walking tour of the campus on a gorgeous spring day, and a visit to the famous Hull’s Art Store next to the Yale School of Art, the group shared a delicious dinner together at Heirloom Restaurant, before returning to the Hilltop.

Bringing creative artists of different disciplines together for such shared experiences is an exciting goal outlined in Hackley’s Strategic Plan, enriching both the individual creative experience of students and the Performing and Visual Arts programs.
