Noah Nager ’23, Dr. Andrew Ying, and Aniketh Arvind ’24 at the Regeneron-International Science and Engineering Fair in Dallas, Texas.

From May 13 to 19, Noah Nager ’23 and Aniketh Arvind ’24 of Hackley’s Independent Science Research Program joined more than 1,600 students from 64 countries at the Regeneron-International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF) in Dallas, Texas.

Aniketh became a finalist by creating a wearable device that can identify small objects to help the visually impaired. Noah (ISEF finalist 2022 & 2023) presented his model to forecast the future spread of West Nile Virus in the continental United States, which also earned him a 4th place award in the Computational Biology and Bio-Informatics category.

During the week-long fair, students presented their work to scientists from around the world, attended international student mixers and symposia sessions, and participated in such excursions as horseback riding, ziplining, and indoor sky-diving.

ISEF is the world’s biggest stage for student science research projects, and students must qualify through regional or state fairs to become a finalist. Hackley students have earned seven finalist spots since 2017, with five finalist spots earned in the past two years.  It is an exciting time to do science research at Hackley School!
